Seattle 2010

With all of the stress and craziness of the last several months, we decided to take a short family vacation somewhere close and somewhere cool. We decided on Seattle. It's about a day's drive away - just far enough to feel like we are somewhat removed from "normal" life and on vacation. The drive there was a little interesting - we got stuck in traffic for about an hour where there had been a bad accident (a moving truck somehow got demolished, and the contents of that truck were spread all over the interstate). While we were sitting there I got a bloody nose. Things were ok a couple of hours after that, then Audrey decided to throw up everywhere about 70 miles outside of Seattle! When I say everywhere, I am not kidding! On top of that, we didn't have laundry facilities at our hotel, so we had to wash everything that was covered in vomit in the bathtub, and then it took about 2 days for all of that stuff to dry! Other than that, the trip wasn't too bad.

































We tried to do several "Audrey-friendly" activities, like going to the aquarium and to the zoo. As it turns out, she actually enjoyed the other activities we did more, like strolling through busy Pike Market. There is so much to look at and so much going on! The biggest problem with the aquarium and the zoo was that there were a million little kids running around crazily, and Audrey wanted to get down and join them, and Momma wouldn't let her. Aren't I such a terrible mother?! Besides, most of the animals at the zoo were asleep, so it really wasn't very exciting.

One of the best parts for Mommy and Daddy was going to the Mariners game! It was a lot of fun, except for a rather grumpy and uncomfortable Audrey. There were about 43,000 people there, it was loud, and she couldn't get down and run around. Additionally, she wouldn't go to her Daddy while we were there, so she was stuck on my lap (and sometimes halfway onto the guy that was sitting next to me, poor guy) the entire time. We left during the 7th inning stretch and singing of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game", as Audrey was about at her breaking point, and to avoid the approximately 42,000 people that were still at the game.

The trip home went much more smoothly, and overall, it was a really nice trip. It was great to get away for a few days and relax. Here are a few pictures:
