Pics and Rambling

So I think it finally sank in that, unless we get a babysitter, there really are no more quiet, romantic dinners at home. For Valentine's Day Matt made dinner for us, and I thought Audrey was going to sleep through it, but she has this built in detector where every time we sit down to eat, she suddenly decides she needs to be held and starts screaming until she gets her way. :) That's okay though - we still love her! We had plenty of offers to baby-sit her for the evening, but I preferred keeping her home with us. We can go out on a date another night.

Audrey is 7 1/2 weeks old now, and I can't believe my leave with her is almost over. I'm not ready to go back to work yet. As a matter of fact, if it wasn't for the economy the way it is, I would seriously consider not going back to work and staying home with her. But, my family is going to watch her for the first several months, and I feel better about that than sending her to a daycare. That will be fine once she is a little older.

Here are a some cute shots I took of her over Valentine's Day weekend.

Saying Goodbye to a great dog

Rest in peace, Lucky. You were such a good boy. I love you, and I'll miss you so much. I know I'll see you again some day. :0)

I know I have mostly baby stuff on this blog, but it is my family blog, and Lucky was part of my family.

It makes me feel little bit better knowing that most people who read this have probably dealt with the loss of a family pet. Sometimes I wonder if you come crashing down like I do, or if I am just too ultra-sensitive like everyone has always told me I am. I don't know. I have been blessed I guess - I haven't had to deal with death too much in my lifetime - I'd like to believe that God knew I couldn't handle it, but now He must know different. While it was probably the hardest thing I have ever done making the decision to end Lucky's life, I feel deep inside that it was the right decision, though that really doesn't make it any better. He had a tumor in his lung, and was having a difficult time breathing and hadn't eaten any food in over a week. We had him on antibiotics for pneumonia, but it didn't help. I have always said that I would not want my dogs to suffer, which is why I made the decision. He was suffering, and because I love him, I decided to make sure he didn't suffer any more.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers during this time...while I am not okay right now, I will be eventually - it just takes time, and God knows best. :)

A Blessed Day

This past Sunday was an exciting day in the life of not only Audrey, but for Matt and I as well. It was Audrey's blessing day.

For those of you who are not familiar with the LDS faith, a baby blessing is a basic priesthood blessing where the one giving the blessing (often the father of the baby) asks Heavenly Father for certain blessings for the baby such as health, strength, faith, etc. There are usually several participants, and the father places his hands on the baby's head in prayer. It's a very beautiful event to see and hear.

The past nine months, I would watch as other babies in our ward were blessed and dream of the day that Matt would be up front blessing our baby girl. It was a pretty emotional day for me, and I tried to keep it together, but alas- I failed miserably.

There are so many things I hope and pray for my baby girl. I pray for her health and happiness in life, and the strength to make the right decisions when she is faced with tough choices. I know how hard it is to be a kid in this world, as it hasn't been that long ago - imagine what it will be like when our children are teenagers. There will be more pressure than ever to make the wrong choices. I pray that Matt and I are good parents to Audrey, and that we will be a help to her when it comes to growing up into a humble, compassionate, driven, and beautiful young woman. I pray that she finds a man to marry (when she's 30 of course) that is like her Dad - loves his wife and family more than life itself, willing to support his family, courteous, hilarious, good sense of humor, and treats women the way they should be treated.

I want to thank everyone that was able to come to her blessing yesterday. It meant a lot for you all to be there. I also want to thank everyone that loves and supports us that could not be here - I know there are many of you that wanted to be, and that means just as much. I know Grandpa Chuck wishes he could be here for these special events, but good news - he'll be here in the Spring!!!

Here are some photos we took yesterday of family and friends who were able to come.
