A Special Visit from Grandpa!!

Birthday barbecue

This past weekend was very exciting.  My Dad drove all the way from Texas to visit us!!  Since he came so close to my 28th birthday, we decided to have a birthday barbecue at my house and lots of family over for the occasion.  Matt's parents came, along with his sister, her husband, and their three kids.  My mom and Darryl came, along with my grandparents, Karlin, Angie, and their two kids, and my Aunt June.  Dad rolled in about 1:30 on Saturday along with his newest addition, Rusty.

On Sunday, Dad took us out to breakfast.  We had a delicious breakfast of eggs, hash browns, toast, and Audrey ate Rainbow pancakes!  Kellen decided to just stick with jarred bananas.  After breakfast we went t Target to pick up some more dog food for Rusty, and some formula for Kellen.  While were there,  Dad took Audrey shopping and got her a cute new "pretty princess dress" as Audrey likes to call them, and a wonderful new pink winter coat!!   He also got Kellen a little frog toy that plays music and "ribbits" - a toy which Kellen and Audrey both fight over.  :)

Enjoying some cake together in the back yard
After shopping, Dad went to wash and vacuum his truck which was full of Rusty hair, then we went to the park with the kids.   Grandpa Chuck took Audrey down the slide several times.  They tried getting Rusty to go with them, but Rusty wouldn't have any part of it.  We got some great pictures while we were at the park.  The park wore out the kiddos, so we broke for nap time, planning on some yummy Mexican food after everyone woke up.

Audrey stole a Pepsi from someone...
After naps, we all went out to Chapala's for dinner.  They have excellent food and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves!  One of the waiters really like Kellen and every time he walked by would rub Kellen's little blonde head and call him "chicito".

My dad planned on leaving early the following morning, so after dinner everyone decided to pack it in for the night so he could get a good night's sleep before taking off the next morning.  With promises of seeing each other again in two years, we hugged and said our good-byes, look forward to another visit in the future!!

Grandpa's visit was so nice and enjoyable.  The kids really took to their Grandpa Chuck and loved playing with him.  It was such a wonderful visit - we are all already planning on the next one!

  2. I love the picture of Audrey being Rusty! You need to get that one printed off and framed to hang at the house. :)
